Historic Fernandina Beach has 50 blocks of historic homes, buildings, shopping, and amazing dining. It is also named on the National Registry of Historic Places. The main industry on the island is Tourism, Shrimping and Fishing.
Fernandina has many well-known events such as the Shrimp Festival and the Concourse de Elegance. Amelia Island also host the Amelia Island Open which is world renown Petanque Tournament. There are two great community theatres: Amelia Community Theatre and Amelia Musical Playhouse. Many visitors stay at the Ritz or Omni Resorts, or at a local Bed N Breakfast located on the Island.
Who lives in Fernandina? You have locals that have been there several generations, a large retired population, snowbirds or winter residence. There is a growing younger and middle-aged group that is finding the area a desirable to raise a family. Although there are many vacation homes on the island, it does not feel touristy. The locals and residences are helpful, warm and friendly to everyone. There are Single Family homes, Condos, Beach Houses, and town homes located on the Island. There are also a health resale market and New Construction to choose from. Many people have an easy commute to Kings Bay Naval Base, Mayport Naval Station, Jacksonville International Airport, or Jacksonville.
