Green Cove Springs is located in the Southeast part of Clay County. It is near the Shands Bridge which will take you over the St. John's River to access areas to the east such as I 95 and St. Johns County locations.
Green Cove Springs is the County Seat of Clay County. It is a quant historic town on the St. Johns River. It got its name from a natural spring that was believed to have healing and healthy benefits and people traveled from the Northern States in the winter to gain its benefits. Until recently the spring filled a public swimming pool. The pure water came straight from the spring into the swimming pool and exited out the far end creating a stream running from the pool to the St. Johns River.
Green Cove Springs has many parks, several boat ramps, and two large piers which go into the St. Johns River. There are many historic homes and buildings. There are also newer built homes around the area. The area would be considered rural and very affordable. The area Schools are A and B Rated. NAS Jax is between 20 to 25 miles. This is a good area to find some space if you do not mind a commute.
